Abstract
How can we understand the spectacular successes
and strange failures of the tools of generative artificial intelligence for
instantaneous translations of texts between two languages ?
First
I will present the algorithmic methods underlying large language models (LLMs)
such as ChatGPT, DeepL or Claude, and then I will describe a recent experience
that I had using them for translation.
